How to Measure Watch Strap Size: Complete Guide

A. Measure Watch Lug Width (Refer to A in diagram above)

The lug width [A] is the distance between the two lugs on your watch case where the strap attaches. It is the most important measurement when selecting a replacement watch strap.

• How to measure lug width:
  • Use a rigid ruler, digital caliper, or vernier caliper.
  • Measure the inside distance between the watch lugs.
  • Record the measurement in millimeters (mm).
  • Avoid using a soft tape measure, as it can bend and produce an inaccurate result.
• Check your existing watch strap:
  • Many leather watch straps show two sizes, such as 20/18 mm or 20-18 mm:
    • The first number (e.g., 20 mm) is the lug width [A].
    • The second number (e.g., 18 mm) is the buckle width [B].
  • For example, a 20/18 mm strap fits a watch with a 20 mm lug width and tapers to 18 mm at the buckle.

B. Measure Buckle Width (Refer to B in diagram above)

The buckle width [B] is the width of the strap end where the buckle is attached.

• Most of our watch straps include a matching buckle. However, if you want to reuse your original buckle, make sure your new strap has the same buckle-end width.
• For example, if your original buckle is 18 mm wide, choose a strap with an 18 mm buckle width.

C & D. Measure Watch Strap Length (Refer to C & D in diagram above)

A standard watch strap consists of two distinct sections:

• C. Hole Section Length: The longer end with adjustment holes.
• D. Buckle Section Length: The shorter end that attaches to the buckle.
• How to measure length: Lay your current strap flat and measure each section separately. Do not include the buckle in your measurement.
• Watch strap length is usually displayed as two numbers, such as 120/75 mm:
  • 120 mm: Hole section length [C]
  • 75 mm: Buckle section length [D]
